Rix Air & Gas Ltd and particularly the name " RIX " is synonymous with the natural gas industry, especially in New Zealand. The parent company, Rix Co. Inc., began manufacturing compressors in Oakland, California way back in 1878. As early as 1965, Rix was manufacturing purpose built CNG compressors for the USA market. When the New Zealand CNG industry began in 1978, Rix compressors were very much in the forefront. Pressure Control Engineering sold and commissioned a large range of Rix compressors and the Oil Company, Caltex (Texaco) purchased over 50 Rix compressors putting them into operation across the North Island. In February 1985 Rix Services set up manufacturing operations in Auckland, New Zealand and from 1987 Rix won around 80% of all CNG station contracts in New Zealand. Rix is now totally New Zealand owned and operated as an Ash Air NZ Ltd Group company under the new name of Rix Air & Gas Ltd. The Head Office and manufacturing facility is situated at 31 Hillside Road Glenfield, Auckland, New Zealand. Rix have sold CNG Compressors in a number of countries, some of which are shown below: Specialised equipment services are offered by a team of New Zealand trained engineers, with International Services being contracted to established companies with after service training undertaken by Rix Services staff. A substantial inventory of spare parts is held and parts are still available for even the oldest " Rix equipment ". Parts are stocked in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Installation can be custom designed with compressor, storage and dispensing capacities balanced to suit the projected demand of the particular filling station. A careful financial analysis can be made, giving projected revenues, operating & maintenance costs and cash flows. Compressors, dispensers, storage cascades, control systems, sequential panels, pressure regulating stations (gate stations), acoustic enclosures, pipework sub-assemblies for prefabricated stations - all are manufactured and work tested in Auckland for the local market and exported world-wide. Gas transport trailers are constructed locally under Rix supervision to internationally accepted standards. The company's quality objectives are in compliance with, or exceeding New Zealand Standard NZS5425. Rix not only manufacture equipment - they also install and commission CNG stations on a complete " Turn - Key " basis. Even under the most arduous conditions Rix are able to complete installations on time and within budget. Rix will construct and commission all types of CNG refueling stations: On-line stations where gas is taken direct from the pipeline, compressed, stored and dispensed; Mother stations, where gas is compressed and dispensed into special gas road transport trailers for distribution to CNG stations that are not located on a gas pipeline; Daughter stations, where the gas from the trailer is decanted, stored and/or recompressed and dispensed; Packaged or containerised CNG stations. Rix can design, construct, install, commission and maintain all types of CNG station and have unparalleled experience in all aspects of management of CNG, as perhaps the most viable alternative fuel for the immediate future. |
